Delcourt Collection
Wood is his material of predilection – particularly oak, which he sources locally. “Oak has a distinctive texture and character; it allows for an infinite variety of forms and hues. For too long it has been relegated to rusticity, a sort of coarseness. What interests me is elevating it, bringing out its sophistication. I never leave it unfinished.” Christophe Delcourt approaches cabinet making with a repertoire of form where nothing is prohibited, including the integration of elements in ceramic, stone, bronze or natural fibers.

His love of nature has been evident from an early age. Christophe Delcourt grew up in Paris, where his father was a florist. He dreamed of working the land and soon left home to study agriculture in Charente. But he quickly understood that this wasn’t the path for him. He cast around, returning to Paris and considering a career in acting. Enrolling at the Cours Florent he did indeed find his path – not as an actor, but as a furniture designer, creating sets for different stage productions and discovering a pleasure in making them himself. His tables, lights and seating soon became popular well beyond the stage. Entirely self-taught, Christophe Delcourt founded his company Delcourt Collection in 1995.

Delcourt Textiles
As a child, Christophe Delcourt used large sheets to cover furniture that did not find favor in his eyes. Perhaps this is how his passion for fabric was born. In 2018, he created Delcourt Textiles, as the missing string in his bow to fully express his world and his vision as a designer. Jacquard occupied a special place very early on, particularly for its ability to create these “coordinated-mismatched” so dear to the designer. Much more than a simple aesthetic choice, jacquard embodies for Christophe Delcourt all the nobility of patterned fabric. He is the weaving king. This is why all Delcourt Textiles patterns are made using this technique.
