Project 213A is a European design house founded in 2020.
Project 213A’s goal is to create modern as well as unique furniture and home accessories that are timeless with a commitment to work towards a more sustainable future.
The design process is heavily influenced by unexpected and unconventional inputs, open conversation between the four founders and daring to try something new. Project 213A lays a big focus on traditional craftsmanship with the goal to create long lasting design pieces that don’t fall into trend patterns; to quote the British design Council "They believe that by adding character to their design it is rendered more precious and therefore more likely to be kept for a lifetime”.
Highlighting distinctive characteristics of materials such as the natural grain of wood and incorporating these features as a whole.
All products are made locally with family run businesses and craftsmen in Northern Portugal, who advise on best materials to use which are all locally sourced to minimise the carbon footprint.
In 2023, Project 213A opened their in-house ceramic and wood workshop where all artisanal ceramic pieces are carefully crafted and prototypes of furniture pieces are sampled. The Portuguese heritage in craftsmanship also has a strong influence on the brand’s design practice. To honour this, the brand names some of their collections after Portuguese cities and areas, big or small.
The product ranges include Lighting, artisanal ceramic furniture and hand-crafted wooden pieces.
